VexaStream

IPTV for Samsung Smart TV

Samsung televisions run Tizen, a closed platform with its own app store. That means no sideloading, but it also means the players available to you are vetted and update themselves. For most Samsung owners setup is entirely remote-driven and takes under ten minutes.

This guide covers which Samsung model years are supported, how to install and license a Tizen player, and what to do when a store app disappears after a firmware update.

Samsung TV compatibility

What works, what does not, and which install route applies to this platform.

Supported model years
2017 and newer Samsung Smart TVs running Tizen
Install method
Samsung Apps store on the TV only — Tizen does not permit sideloading
Playlist formats
M3U and Xtream Codes, depending on the player you choose
Older models
Pre-2017 sets should use an HDMI streaming stick instead

Before you start

  • A working Samsung Smart TV (2017 or newer) connected to your home network
  • A broadband connection of at least 15 Mbps for HD and 25 Mbps or more for 4K
  • An active VexaStream subscription and the login details emailed after checkout
  • A player app that supports the M3U or Xtream Codes format

How to set up IPTV on Samsung TV

Follow these steps in order. Most subscribers finish in under ten minutes.

  1. 1

    Open the Samsung Apps store

Press the Home button on the remote and select Apps. Search for an IPTV player that supports Xtream Codes or M3U playlists.

  2. 2

Install the player and note its device key

Some Tizen players show a device MAC or key on first launch and require a one-time activation on the developer's own website. Write it down before you continue.

  3. 3

    Add your VexaStream playlist

Follow the player's instructions to add your playlist, either directly on the TV or through the developer's web portal, using the server URL and credentials from your welcome email.

  4. 4

Reload the app on the TV

Return to the television and restart the player. It will pull the playlist and begin loading channels and program guide data.

  5. 5

    Set the guide time zone

In the player settings, set your US time zone so that program start times match your local schedule.

Samsung TV troubleshooting

The issues our support team sees most on this platform, with the fix that resolves each one.

The player is missing from the Samsung store

Store catalogs differ by model year and region. Try an alternative listed player, or attach a Fire TV Stick if your set is older than 2017.

The app opens to a blank screen

Sign out of the Samsung account, restart the TV by holding the power button until it reboots, then reopen the app.

Playlist changes are not showing on the TV

Tizen players cache aggressively. Force a playlist reload from the player settings, or close and reopen the app fully rather than leaving it suspended.

Channels load but stall after a few minutes

Switch the TV to a wired connection if possible; Samsung's built-in Wi-Fi radio is weaker than a dedicated streaming device on many models.
